Bay Area Radio Museum & Hall of Fame

AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

UPDATE! Thanks to the efforts of the California Historical Radio Society, its amazing corps of volunteers and its fearless leaders, Steve Kushman and Mike Adams, the Bay Area Radio Museum and Hall of Fame will continue to exist as a major component of CHRS.

I hope to restore as much of the audio and as many of the online exhibits to the museum website over the next few weeks. We did receive an unexpected (but greatly appreciated) gift from our hosting company — unlimited bandwidth for an unspecified period, which may mean several months or several years. Either way, bandwidth expenses have been probably the greatest drain on the museum's financial resources over the past five years, and this news is most welcome.

California Historical Radio SocietyIn the meantime, if you can contribute financially to the museum in any amount, please click here to go to our donations page. A few dollars or a few hundred dollars are equally important, and are gratefully accepted (as well as being tax-deductible).

If you have the skills and the time to volunteer to help out on this project, we need you now! If you can help digitize old reel-to-reel and cassette tapes or 16" transcription discs; if you can assist in researching and writing articles for the museum website; if you can pitch in by interviewing the men and women who worked (or are working in) Bay Area radio; or if you can help to scan, classify and catalog the recordings, documents, photographs and other ephemera that we've collected over the years, please get in touch with us. Contributing even a few hours of your time each month is priceless!

My sincere thanks and gratitude to Steve Kushman, Mike Adams, the members of the California Historical Radio Society, as well as Ben Fong-Torres, Darryl Compton, Peter Cleaveland and the board of directors of Broadcast Legends for their generous and unwavering support of this project, and for their encouragement not only over the past several years, but over the recent weeks as well.
